Have you ever wondered what it actually takes to feel stronger from within? To walk through life with more confidence, calm, and clarity—not just occasionally, but consistently?
A holiday? Not quite. A good night’s sleep? Maybe. Soulful music? Sometimes. A spa day? Not really.
What it truly takes is far simpler—and far more powerful. Just a mat. A quiet mind. And a decision to show up for yourself through yoga.
This is my personal truth. And for anyone who’s experienced the transformative power of regular yoga practice, I know this will resonate.
I used to treat yoga as a post-run stretch or a quick set of Suryanamaskaras. It was a side note in my fitness routine. But over time, something shifted. I began practicing more regularly—at least three times a week—and everything changed. It’s no longer something that controls me; I’ve learned to listen, respond, and guide it with intention. More than physical flexibility, it’s given me emotional resilience, mental clarity, and a sense of inner strength that no external fix could offer.
So if you’re searching for that elusive feeling of being truly relaxed, confident, and in control—start with your breath. Roll out your mat. And give yourself the gift of presence.
It all started on November 11, 2024, when I decided to take a break from work and dedicate that time to myself and my family. Though I had known Shruthi for quite some time as a dear friend of my husband's, I never imagined I would connect with her through yoga. But as the Buddhist proverb goes, "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." In what felt like perfect timing, Shruthi and I had a brief phone conversation, and just like that, my yoga journey began.
As I approach my first anniversary as a yogini, I find myself at a loss for words when trying to explain how profoundly yoga has transformed my perspective on life. The changes run deeper than I ever anticipated—in how I view myself, how I respond to challenges, and how I experience each moment. What started as a simple decision to invest time in myself has blossomed into something far more meaningful, and I have Shruthi to thank for guiding me on this path.
Looking back at that November day, I realize it wasn't just the beginning of a practice—it was the beginning of a new way of being. And for that, I am deeply grateful.
Shruthi’s yoga class became more than just a weekly routine—it became a gateway to understanding my body in ways I never imagined. We all breathe, of course—it's the essence of life. But learning how to breathe right has unlocked a deeper connection between my body, mind, and soul. It’s astonishing how something so fundamental can be so transformative when done with awareness.
After nearly a year of consistent practice, the changes in me are undeniable. I feel energized throughout the day, no longer weighed down by lethargy. That vitality helps me stay productive and focused, and I sleep more soundly at night. Yoga has gently reshaped my daily rhythm.
One of the most surprising benefits has been how yoga supports me during my menstrual cycle. I know this might raise eyebrows—many of us were think that yoga should be avoided during periods. But Shruthi, my guru, offered a different perspective. She assured me that it’s perfectly safe to practice, as long as I avoid certain inversion poses like Chakrasana or Sarvangasana. I chose to trust her guidance rather than get lost in conflicting advice online—and I’m so glad I did. Since then, I’ve noticed a significant reduction in PMS symptoms like bloating, back pain, and abdominal discomfort and I also feel i have lesser mood swings.
I’m still a beginner, but I felt compelled to share this experience. With consistent practice, yoga truly transforms not just your body, but your mindset. It teaches you how to handle stress, stay calm under pressure, and approach life with greater clarity.
Shruthi, thank you for your unwavering encouragement. I cherish the moment you say, “Yessss Thaaaats all,” when I hold a pose just right—it’s a small phrase, but it fills me with pride and motivation. Your guidance is helping me take baby steps into the world of yoga. I also will not miss a chance to say that I’m proud of myself for sticking with it—even when giving up felt easier.
